GIFs

A GIF or Graphics Interchange Format is an image file format that is used to split the difference between images and videos. They are used for applying animation to still photos or to convert a video to an image format. Due to the type of compression needed for such a large image file GIFs often lose quality over other file formats such as PNG or JPG. GIFs are commonly used for small scale animations and for animated web design.
